What is cosmetic olive oil?
Olive oil comes from Olea europaea. The PureOil® variant is cold-pressed from olive fruit, originates from Spain, and has a soft, plant-based, and slightly herbal scent. Although olive oil is best known from the kitchen, an oil product intended for such use can also be used cosmetically for skin, hair, nails, and massage.
How is olive oil made?
The oil is pressed from olive fruit. Cold pressing preserves its natural character as much as possible. The color can be golden yellow and may vary subtly.
Olive oil for the skin
Olive oil feels relatively rich. On the body, this can be pleasant, for example, on slightly damp skin after showering. For the face, less is often more.
For the face
Start with one drop. Some skin types find olive oil too heavy. In that case, mix it with jojoba or grapeseed, or choose a lighter oil.
For body and massage
Olive oil can be used pure or mixed. For a smoother massage sensation, you can combine it with sweet almond or jojoba.
Olive oil for hair
Use a few drops in very dry ends or as a short pre-shampoo treatment. Wash out thoroughly if the hair feels weighed down.
Combining
Jojoba, grapeseed, and sweet almond make an olive oil blend lighter. For a rich dry-skin mix, argan can be added.
Practical routines
Body
Apply thinly to damp skin.
Hair ends
One or two drops through dry ends.
Massage
Combine 1:1 with jojoba for a less heavy texture.
Quality and storage
Check that the product is intended for cosmetic use, look at Olea europaea fruit oil, extraction method, and packaging. Store in a cool, dark place and keep tightly closed.
Safe use
Test locally first. Cosmetic olive oil may be too rich for some facial skin. Discontinue if irritation occurs.
