What is rosehip oil?
Rosehip oil is a botanical seed oil from Rosa canina. The PureOil® variant is cold-pressed, originates from India, and has a soft, slightly earthy scent. Its natural color can range from orange to reddish.
Rosehip oil is widely used in facial oils, but it remains a cosmetic oil and not a medical treatment for scars, pigmentation, or skin conditions.
How is rosehip oil made?
The seeds are cold-pressed. Due to the natural pigments and unsaturated fatty acids, proper storage is important. A color difference between batches does not automatically indicate a quality issue.
Rosehip oil for the face
Apply one to three drops to slightly damp skin. Use pure or mix with jojoba or prickly pear. The oil can be used as the final step after a moisturizer.
For dry skin
Combine with argan or a small amount of avocado for a richer blend.
For a lighter routine
Mix with jojoba in a ratio of approximately 1:1.
Rosehip oil for hair
Use one or two drops on the ends of your hair. Due to the natural color, sparing use on very light hair or fabrics is advisable.
Blending
Jojoba, prickly pear, argan, and grapeseed blend well. This allows you to determine whether you want a light or richer texture.
Practical routines
Evening oil
Two drops on slightly damp skin.
Facial blend
Equal parts jojoba and rosehip.
Hair ends
Rub one drop between your hands and apply only to the ends.
Quality and storage
Look for Rosa canina, cold pressing, and dark packaging. Store in a cool, dark place and keep tightly closed. A rancid or paint-like smell may indicate oxidation.
Safety
For sensitive skin, test locally first. Rosehip oil naturally contains pigments and unsaturated fatty acids and therefore requires proper protection from light and heat.
