What is moringa oil?
Moringa oil is a plant-based oil derived from the seeds of Moringa oleifera. PureOil® specifies cold pressing of moringa seeds and India as the origin. The oil has a soft, earthy, and slightly nutty scent, with a relatively rich yet elegant texture.
Moringa is often used for skin, hair, nails, and massage. The oil does not require a large dosage: a few drops are usually enough for the face or hair ends.
How is moringa oil made?
The seeds are cold-pressed. This method preserves the natural oil profile as much as possible. Natural variations in color and scent are therefore not uncommon.
Moringa oil for the skin
Use the oil on clean, slightly damp skin. For the face, you can start with one to three drops. The oil is not a source of hydration, but it can act as a lipid-rich finishing step to help maintain a comfortable skin feel.
For the face
For dry skin, you can use moringa on its own. For combination skin, a blend with jojoba or grapeseed oil may be more pleasant. Always perform a patch test first if your skin is reactive.
For the body
Apply thinly to arms and legs after showering, or use as a massage oil. By blending with a lighter oil, you can adjust the texture to your preference.
Moringa oil for hair
For dry hair ends, distribute one or two drops over your palms and smooth through the lengths. As a pre-shampoo treatment, you can use a bit more oil and then wash thoroughly.
Moringa oil as a carrier oil
Moringa can also serve as a base to dilute a suitable essential oil. Choose a low concentration and keep the specific safety guidelines of the essential oil you are adding in mind.
Combining
Moringa blends well with jojoba, argan, grapeseed, and avocado. Jojoba makes a blend lighter; argan and avocado make it richer. For scent, you can use, for example, lavender or bergamot, provided they are safely diluted.
Practical routines
Face
Use two drops on damp skin in the evening.
Hair ends
Start with one drop and only add more if the hair requires it.
Massage
Mix equal parts moringa and jojoba for a smoother massage base.
Recognizing quality
Look for the botanical name, extraction method, dark packaging, and clear origin information. A rancid or paint-like smell is not characteristic of fresh oil.
Storage
Store the bottle in a cool, dark place and keep it tightly closed. Avoid getting water in the bottle and do not touch the opening with dirty hands.
Safety
Use a small amount on the face and always perform a patch test when trying a new oil. Stop use if redness, itching, or irritation occurs. In case of persistent complaints, professional assessment is wiser than continuing to experiment.
