In het kort

Everything about grapeseed oil: cold pressing, light texture, use for skin and hair, blends, storage, and safe use.

What is grapeseed oil?

Grapeseed oil is a vegetable oil derived from the seeds of Vitis vinifera. The PureOil® variant is cold-pressed from grape seeds, originates from France, and has a neutral to slightly nutty scent. Due to its relatively light texture, grapeseed oil is popular for the face, body, hair, and massage.

How is grapeseed oil made?

With cold pressing, the seeds are mechanically pressed without high heat. This ensures that the natural properties of the oil are preserved as well as possible. The color can range from light yellow to greenish and may vary slightly per batch.

Grapeseed oil for the face

Use one to three drops on slightly damp skin. The oil generally feels lighter than avocado or olive oil, making it an interesting choice if you are looking for a less heavy facial oil. An oil does not add water; use it as a finishing skincare step.

For combination skin

Start with a minimal amount. You can also combine grapeseed oil with jojoba to make the texture even more neutral.

For body and massage

Because of its light spreadability, grapeseed oil is suitable as a massage base. Apply to skin that is still slightly damp after showering or mix with a richer oil like argan or avocado.

Grapeseed oil for hair

For dry ends, one or two drops are often enough. For a pre-shampoo treatment, you can use a bit more and wash it out after twenty to sixty minutes. Fine hair can easily become weighed down by too much oil.

Combining with other oils

Grapeseed oil is a practical base for oil blends. Mix with jojoba for a light facial oil, with argan for a richer hair oil, or with avocado for a nourishing body blend. Only add essential oils in a safe, low dosage.

Practical routines

Facial blend

Mix two parts grapeseed oil with one part jojoba and use two to three drops.

Hair ends

Warm one drop between your hands and smooth through the lower lengths of your hair.

Massage

Use pure or mix with sweet almond oil for a different glide experience.

Quality and storage

Check the botanical name, extraction method, and packaging. Because grapeseed oil can contain a relatively high amount of unsaturated fatty acids, careful storage is important. Keep the bottle in a cool, dark place and tightly closed.

Safety

If you have sensitive skin, test locally first. Stop if irritation occurs and do not use in the eyes or on broken skin.

PureOil tip

Use grapeseed oil as a light base and only add a richer oil in small amounts.
