What is avocado oil?
Avocado oil is a vegetable oil derived from Persea gratissima. The PureOil® variant is cold-pressed from avocado fruits, originates from Kenya, and has a soft, creamy, and slightly nutty scent. Its color can range from dark green to golden green.
Avocado oil is relatively rich and therefore fits well into routines for dry skin or drier hair lengths. On very oily or easily congested facial skin, the oil may feel too heavy.
How is avocado oil made?
According to the product information, the oil is cold-pressed from avocado fruits. Natural pigments can result in a greener hue. Color differences between batches are not necessarily a quality issue.
Avocado oil for the skin
Use one or two drops on the face and more on dry body parts. Apply to slightly damp skin so that the oil spreads more easily.
For dry skin
Avocado can be used as a rich sealing oil after a moisturizer or water-based serum.
For combination skin
Mix one part avocado with two or three parts jojoba or grapeseed for a lighter texture.
Avocado oil for hair
For dry, thick, or curly hair, a small amount in the ends can be pleasant. As a pre-shampoo treatment, you can leave the oil on for twenty to sixty minutes. Start very sparingly with fine hair.
Combining
Jojoba and grapeseed make avocado lighter; argan creates a rich care blend. For massage, you can mix avocado with sweet almond.
Practical routines
Face
One drop of avocado plus two drops of jojoba.
Hair
One to two drops in dry hair ends.
Body
Apply thinly to damp skin after showering.
Quality and storage
Look for Persea gratissima oil, cold pressing, and a dark bottle. Store in a cool, dark, and well-sealed place. A natural green tint is normal.
Safety
Test locally on sensitive skin. Use less or choose a lighter oil if your skin clogs easily or you find the oil too heavy.
